UFC 244 is sure to be one of the biggest fight cards of the year. Stacked with named talent such as Kelvin Gastelum, Darren Till, Kevin Lee, and so many more, not to even mention the main event for the newly minted BMF title. However, a UFC card truly wouldn’t be without drama, and this time, Nate Diaz, true to his reputation, was sure to deliver. However, it was perhaps more USADA’s fault than his, and the full story is yet to be told to the fans.

What is UFC 244?
UFC 244 is the 500th event that the UFC has ever put on, making it significant and historic, since it will be remembered as a significant event till the end of time. Additionally, 244 is being hosted in New York City, in the legendary Madison Square Garden venue, the most popular venue in the world. 244 is a stacked card, but is noteworthy for being a UFC card with no champion or challenger on it. For this reason, the main event, Jorge Masvidal vs. Nate Diaz, will be contended for a new title, the BMF belt. In essence, the BMF belt marks the baddest man in the UFC, and these two are the perfect contenders for it, making a distinct mean streak throughout their careers.
Who is Nate Diaz?
Nate Diaz is one half of the legendary Diaz brothers, along with his older brother Nick. This duo made their name in the sport of Mixed Martial Arts by being rule breakers, rebels, and general rock stars. These guys became popular by their anti-company antics, cursing out UFC president Dana White, and generally being troublemakers. Historically difficult to work with, Nate is notorious for being the one who halted the legendary Conor McGregor’s momentum, tapping him out via second round in their first meeting. Nate, after a long layoff, recently dominated former champion Anthony “Showtime” Pettis, and called out Jorge Masvidal for the BMF title in New York.
What Caused All the Commotion?
As with most conflicts in the UFC in today’s day and age, the United States Anti Doping Agency (USADA) has a huge role to play in the fiasco that was the buildup to 244. The USADA takes many samples concurrently from all active fighters on the UFC roster, and Nate was no exception. Nate Diaz is historically a clean, vegan, plant based, raw food kind of guy, and one simple look at his body will tell you that this guy has never even looked at a steroid, let alone taken one. However, as with USADA tests normally, Nate tested positive for a trace amount of a banned substance, clearly a false flag, or tainted supplement. Nate clearly tweeted that he was pulling out of the fight, claiming he never took anything in his career. Obviously USADA expedited the process of testing, and found the trace leading to a multivitamin, putting the fight back on. However, this whole fiasco caused a lot of commotion and havoc, and surely UFC president Dana White missed out on a lot of sleep, once again, thanks to Nate Diaz’s antics.
