The Ultimate Fighting Championship organization just wrapped up a banner year in 2019, breaking a lot of records, and making a lot of money in the process. We saw new champions, new destinations, new titles, and so many more this year, and it was really a great thing for MMA fans. However, the UFC has already began looking to the future, and has booked many blockbuster fights for the following year, 2020, for us fans to enjoy. So below are some of the big matchups the UFC has announced for the year 2020.

Robert Whittaker vs. Jared Cannonier
The last time we saw Robert Whittaker was him getting brutally knocked out by current UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya, however, he took the loss like a man, and expressed his desire to fight as soon as possible after that devastating KO loss. On the other hand, Jared Cannonier has been a true force to be reckoned with in the middleweight division, breaking the leg of GOAT Anderson Silva, and recently beating prospect Jack Hermansson. This is a great fight, and will probably set up a #1 contendership discussion amongst these two.
Khabib Nurmagomedov vs. Tony Ferguson
Khabib Nurmagomedov is one of the biggest stars in the sport. After tapping out Conor McGregor in the fourth round via neck crank, and demolishing interim champion Dustin Poirier via ground and pound, he quietly awaited his next challenger. Enter Tony Ferguson, a wild man at heart, with the most effective and unorthodox offense in all of MMA and the UFC. This is the first fight which poses a huge threat to Nurmagomedov in the UFC, and we can’t wait to get our hands on it.
Weili Zhang vs. Joanna Jedrzejczyk
Joanna Champion was an extremely scary woman before getting beaten down by Thug Rose Namajunas twice in the straweight division. Since then, she has picked herself up, dusted herself off, and become the #1 contender once again. Conversely, Zhang defeated Jessica Andrade, who defeated Rose Namajunas for the straweight strap, making for a classic case of MMA maths. The UFC’s straweight title happens to be on the line though, and we just can’t wait to see which one of these two ladies will end up leaving Las Vegas with the strap around their waist.
Conor McGregor vs. Cowboy Cerrone
The notorious one is back, and he has a better opponent than ever. Donald Cowboy Cerrone is the biggest UFC company man ever, and really is hoping to give Conor the shock of his lifetime come January. We personally believe that there must be a good reason for this fight happening at 170 pounds, rather than Conor’s usual weight class of 155 pounds. This is sure to be a fight with plenty of fireworks, seeing as these both have the knockout power to shut the lights off their opponent at any moment during the fight. Can’t wait.
